—General Information
The undergraduate program of the Department of Management, which continues its educational activities in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences located in the Central Campus of Çankaya University, is a 4-year (excluding preparatory class) program.
The Department of Management provides services with its academic staff (3 professors, 5 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, 1 lecturer PhD, 1 research assistant and 2 graduate program scholars), each of whom is an expert in their field. Our department also successfully carries out 2 master’s programs with thesis and 3 non-thesis master’s programs and 1 Phd program within the Institute of Social Sciences.
The main objectives of the Department of Management for its students are as follows:
Course Planning: Regarding the course planning of the students, at the beginning of the academic year, an advisor is assigned for each student of the department.
The course status of the students is usually followed by the same advisor from the first year of the students until their graduation period. Advisors not only monitor the academic status of the students, but also guide them in their social and other issues.
Program Outcomes: It is aimed that the students who complete the program will be trained in such a way that they can collect, organize, and analyze data, interpret analysis results by applying quantitative and qualitative methods to clearly define business problems and develop solutions. In addition, each student completing the program is expected to have English language proficiency. In addition, students are expected to analyze case studies related to successful businesses in many courses. Also, in order for the students to take part in teamwork, completing many courses in teams and making presentations of the prepared works are among the students’ course obligations.
Elective courses are defined in accordance with the advanced level of information technologies required by the students who have completed the program, and also special software related to the subjects are used within the scope of many compulsory and theoretical courses. There is a finance laboratory reserved for finance courses only. There is a special software that is purchased each term for strategy courses and used within the course. Apart from that, since 2018-2019 Fall semester, all of the Data Analysis courses are carried out in the laboratory using a statistical package. In addition, field-oriented software is used in operations research, operations management and market research courses.
In addition, in the spring semester of each academic year, the “MAN499_ Field Study” elective course is offered for senior students. Students who take this course work on solving a specific problem of the business under the guidance of the advisors.
In addition, simulation courses are given so that students can apply the knowledge they have learned. Within the scope of these courses, students make decisions to manage a virtual business in teams and shape their business plans according to the results of these decisions.
Also, Data Analytics course is opened and topics related to new software and current business practices are covered in this course.
Job Opportunities: Students who have successfully completed the undergraduate program of Management can work in the field of marketing, advertising, production, accounting, finance, project management, human resources, etc. in every type of organizations such as audit and consultancy firms, banks and insurance companies. In addition, they can be employed as experts, assistant experts, auditors, inspectors and managers in most of the public institutions. Academia is also an option for the graduate students.
Collaborations: Students of the Management Department take part in projects designed in line with the demands of the companies within the scope of collaborations with various Organized Industrial Zones and companies in the sector. Within the scope of these projects, students visit these companies in the company with a consultant lecturer and work is carried out for one semester. Thus, it is aimed to integrate students into the business world by including practical applications as well as theoretical education.
